Re: New York, NY

Hi everybody, I'm sorry, but it looks like I have an unavoidable work obligation that came up this Saturday. Can someone else take the lead on our group? I'd hate for NY to not be represented this go-round. As it stands, I think we're all pretty happy with Chelsea area/Highline park so far. Just nee...

New York, NY

Thought I'd get this thread started. I propose a distinctly non-Met Museum sketchcrawl day. Highline Park/Chelsea are my brainstorm ideas so far.

Ditto on the second pic. Bravo on the sketching!
A question though, Do you pre-treat the paper before applying your washes? I have trouble using watercolor with my molskine.

NYSketchcrawl -In Staten Island (with some seattle)

Hi All, sorry to post so late, I've been v. busy. I hope you don't mind, I threw in a sketch I did while on vacation a few days before the crawl. **Alisa, I really dig your sketches, you have such fluid lines! Bummer that I couldn't connect with y'all again. Duty called. Next time though! http://www...

Hey y'all,
Unfortunately, I'll be separated from you all again, but this time due to prior engagements. But I plan on sketching where I'll be, over in Staten Island.

Great sketches Alisa,
You definitely have a great knack for finding the personalities and narratives in these human-art interactions!

Akiko, lovely drawings! I think that look is what I aspire to when i try to combine ink with watercolor washes. In the past, though, I have been frustrated with how poorly the watercolor absorbs into bristol board. Do you use a heavy paper? Doodle Dose, I like your line work. The variations in weigh...

Lovely sketches, Enrico! I particularly like the street scene.
I wish I had gone to the last sketchcrawl, then I would have been able to see you execute those watercolors firsthnad!

sumacm, I'm sorry I missed you. It would have been great to see you in action working in essentially the same medium that I chose! I also really like the knight. He looks shiny and vibrant.
