Re: 59th Sketchcrawl New York City - Come to the Bronx!

The Van Cortlandt House Museum ( http://www.vchm.org ) will be the initial focus of our sketching. We have arranged for small numbers (3-4) of sketchers to enter without charge for sketching the interior features; we'll see how busy they are, perhaps we can put in more, or rotate different groups in...

Brewster, NY, USA [Results] Sketchcrawl 57

It was another solo sketchcrawl for me, and I lacked an inspirational focus. During the day I visited a favored hickory tree to harvest some fallen nuts. When I returned home, I cracked open a bunch before dinner, looked at the tableau in front of me, and there was my subject staring me in the face....

New York City SC #56 RESULTS

About 10 sketchers descended on Manhattan. I brought only black & white media, which steered me to people rather than scenery; resistance is futile! I caught up in time for lunch at the Boathouse in Central Park. And of course what do sketchers sketch? Each other! Sketchers at Lunch http://parkergam...

About 17 sketchers descended on New York City's ChinaTown for the Lunar New Year festivities - year of the Rooster. After two hours working outside on a chilly cloudy windy day, we retired to the accommodating "Empanada Mama" restaurant for food, drink, and sketching each other across the table. The...

Today I only had time to visit the Putnam County (NY) Fair to catch a performance by the eminently hip David Amram. Joan, that clementine looks totally delectable! I like how the snow provides for negative space in the sketch (but it's a challenge), you handled so well with the view from the garage.

Blizzard conditions kept me at home and indoors. This is sketched from a bedroom window; the antique ladder, added many years ago as a landscape accent, has finally been portrayed!

For my day’s crawl I first walked to the northern reaches of Tibbetts Brook in Van Cortlandt Park. Fifty years ago this used to be a broad lake surrounded by open field, a cherished fishing and mischief locale of my youth. Now the eutrophied lake is filled in, its footprint and shore areas impenetra...

Was feeling not sufficiently tip-top to join the NYC Urban Sketchers for this one, so stayed local - remembered a spread of wild hyacinths in walking distance; with this year's late spring, the timing was right for them to be in peak bloom, and well-festooned with the native bees! Re: New York City Sketch Crawl

Belvedere Castle is slightly north of the 79th Street Traverse, overlooking Turtle Pond. It's about midway east-west-wise. I hope I can make it, but it's pending scheduling some contractors to work on my home, and I may have to accede to them. In which case I'll sketch Brewster.
