Re: San Francisco, CA USA

Hi! I haven't been able to make it to a SketchCrawl for at least a year, and I just jumped on here and saw that one was coming up this weekend. Is this still a go? And may I say, the first location really piqued my interest--the Industrial Port Area. I am really jonesing for some industrial subject ...

Re: San Francisco, CA [Results]

First SketchCrawl I've managed to make it to since #28 (almost two years ago!) So for this first warm-up, I just wanted to sketch the street where I parked, so that I could find my car later. http://www.atkinsonproductions.info/sc/art/sc35/page01.jpg I had my first ever cannoli at the Caffe Trieste,...

Re: Barcelona-Vic, SPAIN [RESULTS]

Very beautiful sketches! There is a lot of character in your work. Even things like the train signal are so inviting I want to go up to it and give it a hug! (in my opinion, there is not enough love given to the train signals of the world)

Cheers, John

Re: San Francisco, CA., USA

The last SketchCrawl I was able to attend was the Palace of Fine Arts (I think that was in 2010)! So I'm clearing my schedule--this should be a blast...

Re: San Francisco, CA, USA [RESULTS]

Great sketches, you guys! Lots of expression and playfulness. What a great day yesterday! Started out cold (like a typical summer day in SF), but the sun came out later to play. I started with a few sketches around the pier and of other sketchers: http://www.atkinsonproductions.info/sc/art/sc28/sc28...

Re: San Francisco, CA

FYI - I was at the Presidio Friday afternoon making a delivery of some graphics, and I thought for grins I would drive past the Warming Hut just so I would know where I needed to be at 10:30 on Saturday. I never made it there, cuz there is a crazy amount of road construction going on in the area. Pa...

Re: San Francisco, CA, USA [RESULTS]

Lovely day for a SketchCrawl--the city was absolutely sparkling! A SketchCrawl first, Goro--sketches on an iPad. Bravo!! Very beautiful drawings, and done with such innovation. The non iPad illustrations are quite lovely as well. Funny, I saw that same "Victoria's Secrets" display, and I t...

Re: San Francisco [RESULTS]

Very cool day in Yerba Buena Center, and it turned into a very COLD day in the late afternoon! http://www.atkinsonproductions.info/gfx/sc25/sc25_02.jpg When I got there at 10:30, there was one man practicing tai chi, and another not far away practicing moves with a katana sword. I enjoyed the contra...

Re: San Francisco, CA, USA

My wife and I will be in SF all weekend, but unfortunately on the other side of town--attending the Silent Film Festival being held at the Castro Theater. Saturday afternoon we'll be watching "The Wild Rose", a Chinese film from 1932. The SFF is like a pilgrimage we make every year--too ba...

Re: San Francisco [RESULTS]

I drove in from the central valley, and was a bit late because of an accident on Highway 37. So here was my first sketch on the day: http://www.atkinsonproductions.info/gfx/sc19/sc19a.jpg Then got to Fort Point, and was immediately struck by how cold it was. I was dressed for hot weather, since they...

Wow, what a wonderful presentation! Great sketches by all, and the photographs do a great job of chronicling the day. You really captured the spirit of SketchCrawling, and I think everyone in the world could look to you folks as the gold standard on how to do it right! Gosh, even having a big meal t...

It was a lot of fun being out there with y'all. (Though as the folks would say back where I come from, "twas a bit nippy!") John: beautiful renderings. I really like the colors. Marc: wow…I love the strength of the drawings, with just enough of a splash of color that it ties everythi...

Vacaville - CA - USA [RESULTS]

Well, I think this may be the first ever Sketchcrawl posting from Vacaville (where I live). I was going to go to San Francisco, but I had too much work to do. So then I was thinking I would set off some renders and join up with the folks in Davis (closer). I couldn't even manage that. So to avoid mi...

Oh my gosh...I was just looking at Chris's drawing with the container ship in it, and it occurred to me that the one that struck the Bay Bridge was a Hanjin (that ship was the Cosco Busan). I'm wondering if you managed to capture the last sketch of the ship before it hit the bridge? I'm not sure how...

splinesmith--your building watercolors are really nice--tell me you studied architecture in school hah! Am I that obvious, donnam? :) Actually, yes...I was an architecture major for a year. Then I discovered how much politics is involved in getting into a good firm. Yuck. What a day, and what a gre...
