Re: Seattle, Washington USA [results]
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4065/4395350828_e989b499eb.jpg I love finding the preserved fragments of art-deco and art nouveau elements that were integral to older downtown Seattle buildings. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4063/4394582055_8ec785654c.jpg I wish I could capture the peculiarity of a...

Re: Seattle, Washington USA
I love the idea of the Conservatory! According to the website, it opens at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. So we could plan to meet inside the entrance at 10 or just after. They offer tours for $25/group at 11 or 1 p.m. if you book 2 weeks in advance (that means letting them know this weekend). Anybody intere...

Some photos of our day -- sorry I have no evidence that Jack was with us too! I'm hoping he got some great sketches in the rose garden, which was a feast of color and fragrance. Here are Beth and Mark drawing stripes on zebras. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3464/3714240186_0be939b7ee_m.jpg And here...

Mark and Beth, thanks for posting! Beth, I loved our tete-a-tete with Larry the Giraffe! Mark, how did I miss seeing these wonderful sketches when we shared our sketchbooks after lunch?! I'm going to add some color to my hasty sketches and post soon. Frances, call me if you need help getting yours o...

Re: Seattle, Washington USA
So yay for the Rose Garden! As G. Stein said, "A rose is a rose is a rose...." and let's not forget that Gertrude Stein was (along with her brothers Leo and Michael and her sister-in-law Sarah) an early and energetic supporter of many 20th century artists! I was going to post the Matisse p...

Re: Seattle, Washington USA
Hey Seattle SketchCrawlers, how about meeting in the Woodland Park Zoo Rose Garden, adjacent to the zoo ticketing gates on the south side of the zoo? It's prettier than hanging out by the gates! http://www.zoo.org/zoo_info/rosegarden/rosegarden.html The Woodland Park Rose Garden is near the main ent...

Stephanie, I was so glad to see that you drew that beautiful cedar stump! I pointed it out enthusiastically as we walked past it and I was so glad you drew it, and now I'm glad that you posted it. Beautiful work! Till next time -- Teresa

Re: Seattle - Results
I don't think this time was a record, though it was impressive turnout for a January day after a spate of wild weather (subnormal cold, wilder-than-usual wind, blizzards, ice, and then floods last week). I think we had at least 15 this time but there were as many as 24 or 25, I think, when we Sketch...

Beth takes the group picture and we can't see her!
Here she is making her beautiful drawing from the steps of Rat Hall, I mean Raitt Hall, on the quad at the University of Washington.
