Re: Waxahachie, TX [USA]

So, the municipal court is on Rogers, is that the one, or is it going to be the county courthouse with all the grotesques on the square? :?:

Re: Waxahachie, TX [USA]

Naschkatze is that on South Rogers Street? I'm about 45 minutes to an hour away (which is no problem at all), but I'm going to google a map (because, while I like to drive, it is almost guaranteed that I will get lost at least once  ). If I can get my friends who knows the area to come (they ...

Re: Question for all watercolour sketchcrawlers.

I tend to sketch with a pencil that doesn't have an eraser (so I can't keep erasing and not get any painting down). Then I will either keep the paper wet enough (if I am using cakes) to mix the paints together on the paper (I use medium weight sketchbook paper or watercolor tablets), or I will make ...

Re: Paints?

I've done sketchbook work with acrylics, and, really, they are a lot like watercolors, from my experience. You can thin them down with water and have them act very similar to watercolors, or you can keep them thick and have them look like oils, and they dry tons faster. I used a cheapy sketchbook wh...

Re: Water Brush or traditional brushes?

When I am at home I use an Isabey 6 inch wash brush and a 1 inch flat brush for most of my work. That particular wash brush is pricey (Cheap Joe's has them for the cheapest I have ever found) but they hold a lot of water and pigment which lets you get nice flat washes, blooms, etc and so forth. I fe...

Re: Make a mini watercolor box-great for sketchcrawls

Oh this is such a better idea than what I do. I tend to just carry around small plastic plates and the tubes in a bag. Thanks!

Re: watercolor travel sets

Some of the best paints I have found for the best prices have been at http://www.cheapjoes.com . Their American Journey series (professional grade watercolors so a little pricey but not super bad) is FANTASTIC and they have some dry kits that are good for travel that have some very intense colors. I...

Re: watercolor inspiration

I get my inspirations from books by authors such as Charles de Lint http://www.sfsite.com/charlesdelint/, and Brian Froud http://www.worldoffroud.com/index.html. Also Stephanie Law at Shadowscapes, and my watercolor teacher, Rob Erdle http://www.watercolorworldwide.com/gallery.html.

Greetings Ya'll

I am generally a lurker, but this site is just too cool not to post on. My name is Autumn and I am in Irving. I tend to work mostly with pen and ink or pencil, and with watercolors, but I do some stuff with acrylics, collage, and am just now getting into 3-D stuff (mostly making masks and small scul...

Re: Waxahachie, TX [USA]

I'm interested, and I think I have a couple of friends who might want to be in on it, too.
