Re: Washington DC, USA

I plan to come, but will probably be late. The tidal basin area sounds like a good idea to me, though it's likely to be crowded.

Washington, DC [RESULTS]

The Washington D.C. group met on the National Mall to sketch the preparations for Monday's inauguration ceremony. I arrived late due to a family obligation earlier in the day, and I wasn't sure how easy it would be to find everyone, but I just walked down the Mall looking for sketchbooks, and quickl...

Washington, DC [RESULTS]

Six sketchers from the D.C. area met at the National Zoo. The weather was just right for a crawl. I started off with a quick sketch of zoo visitors approaching the visitor center: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8049/8087336475_211228ffc5_n.jpg We then headed over to the big cats area, where we found ...

Washington, DC [RESULTS]

Our plan in D.C. was to explore the Navy Yards and waterfront area, and sketch the Nationals in action at the ballpark. We didn't coordinate all that well, though, and I didn't manage to find the other sketchers, but that didn't stop me from going to the ball game: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5238...

Re: Washington D.C., USA

The stadium and waterfront area sounds good to me. Could we sketch the waterfront area in the morning, and those who want to go in for the game in the afternoon?

Re: Washington DC, USA

I started off with a quick sketch of Vaquero, by Luis Jiménes, which sits outside the north entrance to the National Portrait Gallery. Since it didn't make it above freezing today, this was the only sketch I did outside: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7141/6745559619_f96095fea1.jpg Our group gathered...

Here are a few of mine. The MBT at the beginning of the sketchcrawl (with Frederick and Robin): http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6230/6252781264_141534f1f4.jpg An industrial facility of some kind, visible from the trail. Several of us sketched this from different angles: http://farm7.static.flickr.com...

Re: Washington DC [USA]

Sounds like a good plan to me. What time should we start? 10:30ish as we did for previous crawls?

Re: Washington, DC. USA

Those look fantastic, Frederick. I especially like the hat stand. Here are a few of mine. I spent the morning working on architecture and statues: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6023/5968086393_92704d2508_m.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6016/5968086353_aa3446a27d_m.jpg http://farm7.static.flick...

Re: Washington DC, USA [RESULTS]

It was a little too cold for most of us to do any outdoor sketching, but there were a lot of subjects in the Library of Congress. The Great Hall in the Jefferson Building has art on nearly every surface, so we had no trouble finding things to sketch. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5165/5381820047_15...

Re: Washington DC, USA [RESULTS]

rmahler, Each photo page on flickr has a 'Share This' button. Select that, then pick 'Share the HTML/BBCode' from the menu, and then select the 'BBCode' radio button. This will generate the code you need to paste into the forum. It will look something like this: [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/jwi...

Re: Washington DC

We usually just show up and start drawing - look for the other people with sketchbooks. The Cathedral's a big place, so I'd suggest meeting outside the west entrance. We usually stay for 45 minutes or so in one place, then gather together and start walking.
