I've crawled Albany twice, some I'm ruling that out. The 25th is Travers weekend in Saratoga, so the place will be packed with tourists. I'm ruling that out. So I plan to sketchcrawl Troy, NY. I'll probably start at the Farmer's Market, something I've always wanted to draw anyway, around 11am. Meet ...

Well, I was hoping the nice weather would hang around until the weekend but it looks like it's gone. As of Wednesday (and you know how these things can change) they are saying 40% chance of rain. *crosses fingers* I'd like to plan to meet at the statue in Washington Park, near Henry Johnson Boulevar...

I thought we'd meet in Washington Park around 11am and circle through there, then make our way to the capital building, and then down to the pedestrian bridge that goes from Broadway to the waterfront. Sound like fun?

I have a lot of trouble scanning my watercolors. They come out okay but the colors are always a little off. I think this is just the nature of the scanning something faint.

Albany, NY

Looking for people in the Albany, NY area. It'll be nice that it won't be so cold this time, right?

For my birthday I got a little Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor kit. It's in a hard plastic clamshell case that opens up, with three trays of four watercolor pans. There's a brush inside and two palettes that pop out. I got a chance to use it over the holiday weekend and I really like it. Very easy t...

I have to make the call on this. We're going to brave Washington Park. We'll be meeting at 10am tomorrow morning at the Daily Grind on Lark St. We'll head for the park around 10:30. I hope to see people there!

Weather for Saturday is looking like partly cloudy, in the mid thirties. Could be worse. I've got three meetups in mind. 1. daily Grind on Lark St (sketch through the park) 2. the park at Elk St and Eagle St (sketch through plaza) 3. Colonie Center Mall, first floor by Macy's (*inside*) Still open t...

Because I usually work in a small sketchbook, I like an HB. It allows for a lot of tone and line variation without being messy. I will say that for sketching, especially in tight places, I do not recommend woodless pencils. I have some Koh-I-Noor pencils that are great for figure drawing on large pa...

Fliers are up in Central Art Supply and Arlene's. Thinking about starting somewhere near Central Square, working through the park. Open to suggestions. Little response yet.
