San Francisco, CA

So - where shall we all crawl? Or am I missing the right thread? My suggestions would be Cathedral Hill/Japantown, or maybe as someone else suggested, the Mission. Cathedral Hill has blocks and blocks of various nifty Churches and Cathedrals for the architecturally inclined, and Japantown has good s...

Man, I used to love hanging out in the Commons in Ithaca. I wish I could be there - good luck, and have fun!

Re: San Francisco [RESULTS]

Another great crawl! It was really great to see so many folks at the meetup, with so much good work! Do we really have to wait 2 months til the next one? John D Nice inks! I love the way you capture so much texture with such stroke economy. Eli Harris great to meet you, and wonderful work - so versa...

kindred spirits

I recently ran across Russell Stutler's website and forums, the forum being "the sketching forum". I can't help but wonder how much cross-pollination there is, or could be? Russell is located in Tokyo, so perhaps he and his folks could hook up with Paintmonster and the gang? http://www.stu...

Re: Bags to hold your materials?

My sketch bag recently suffered a fatal blow to the strap, so I am looking. I know one of the folks I've seen in SF has this bag: http://www.cheapjoes.com/store/images/products/detail/FPVMB1.jpg http://www.cheapjoes.com/art-supply/FPVMB1_7688_field-portage-vertical-messenger-bag.asp and I'd love to ...

Re: San Francisco - CA - USA

Gerald's got a great idea with Fort Point, I've never been over there. Tiburon would be cool, the SF'ers could meet up at the ferry and take that over, making it a lot like the Sausalito crawls. Sausalito is always fun too, though. Can't wait to see everyone!

so much wonderful work!!

John D - Nice treatment of your subjects! they feel very warm, even with the cool tones on your people. Enrico - 60!! That's almost as many as we had at the Sausalito crawl last year. Beautiful tones on that ship. I nearly drew that same tree, but decided I couldn't do it justice - you did nicely! ...

Lazy post - just pix for now - but I am amazed by the sheer volume of wonderful work! It was a great group, I'm sure we'll have even more fun when the weather warms up :) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2055/2381792694_605ef324e9.jpg First of the day, an early tourist on the pier. http://farm4.static...

no rules

There's no real rules, its very informal - bring your drawing stuff and tuck in for the whole day, or part of the day! Generally, people meet up, sign in with Enrico and then go their merry way. Frequently those who last the whole day will meet up again at the end to swap sketchbooks and stories.

Wow, amazing work from everyone! Great to see so many familiar faces, it's been too long. I finally got mine uploaded - not too many, as I had to head out early, but it was a lot of fun!! Oddly enough, last time I crawled china town, I was at almost the same spot in an identical sketchbook. It seems...

better late than never

Just like the day of the crawl, I'm a bit late posting, but I wanted to share these. Great drawings everyone! A really impressive range of styles and techniques here. Here are mine: Walton Plaza http://www.frostfyre.com/frostfyre/sketchblog/Entries/2007/11/4_More_Scribbles_%26_Sketchcrawl_16_files/s...
