Long Beach -> Phoenix -> Atlanta USA [Results]

Inspired by iPixelDiva's announcement that she was going to turn her Phoenix->Detroit->Newark trip into a sketchcrawl, I did the same with mine. Sketching made air travel a lot more pleasant. Long Beach, California https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3687/13921067761_3fd1aab2a0.jpg on Flickr Phoenix, Ari...

Re: Atlanta, GA [Result]

Erling, superb painting of the bridge. Good luck to you in your job hunt. Really sorry to hear you were laid off. Hope you will find work in a new city soon, but we will miss you. I guess I will never get to watch you at work with your travel oil kit. Teri, if nobody else answers your question, I wi...

Re: Third Leg of Traveling Sketch Crawl STILL in Detroit

Sketching makes almost anything better, even plane delays. Hope you're safely in Newark now. Thanks for the inspiration; you made my flights better. Were you in the terminal with the cute little red train and the light tunnel art installation, or were you in the other terminal, the utterly boring on...

Re: Phoenix, AZ --> Detroit --> Newark, NJ

iPixelDiva, I will pass through PHX from 11:20 to 12:25 (assuming all goes well). Be sure to post the sketches you do throughout the day, and I will post mine, and we'll say we crawled together even if we never actually meet. A day of air travel will be more bearable if we make it into a sketchcrawl.

Sorry I won't be able to make it. Just learned I have to be out of town that day.

Re: Atlanta, GA

Piedmont Park sounds interesting. Where does one park?

GT campus is great for architecture but not so good for people or nature. There are nice trees, but you can see more trees elsewhere. And the students don't stay still; they're all walking somewhere.

Re: Atlanta, GA

Lately I've been rather partial to Visitor Parking Lot 1 on the Georgia Tech campus. It's not far from the North Avenue MARTA station. If you are driving on the Connector, exit at North Avenue and go west a short distance past the stadium and under a pedestrian bridge. Turn left into the parking lot...

Beautiful sketches, and what a lot of variety with both botanical garden and museum. Looks like fun.

Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA [now with results]

Three of us didn't have enough sense to join Erling for coffee, but kept on drawing just outside the visitors' center. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3672/12144639794_3dd99e0e01.jpg Oakland Cemetery by debora000 , on Flickr After I finished this sketch I wasn't sufficiently chilled, so I went to the ...

Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Just checked the weather forecast: low of 19 Friday night, mostly sunny with a high near 48 on Saturday (but breezy). Afternoon certainly looks preferable to morning! So at 1:30 I'll be sitting outside the Visitors Center/Bell Tower drawing something and looking for other people with sketchbooks or ...

Re: Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Oakland Cemetery sounds great to me. Can anyone suggest a convenient meeting place there where we can sketch while we wait for others to show up?

Atlanta, Georgia, USA [now with results]

Anybody interested in sketching in the Atlanta area? Downtown Decatur is always good.
Also Old Mill Park in Roswell (ruins of an old textile mill by big creek) and the historic houses nearby are interesting (and challenging to draw), if that isn't too far.

Beautiful!!! And very evocative of a light rain.
Glad you made it and that the other sketcher did also.

Re: ATLANTA, GA USA

Saffro, are you still there?
Erling or Kmcgah, feel free to jump in and propose a meeting place and time. Kmcgah, it's great to meet another Atlanta sketcher.
I plan to do something out of town on Saturday and don't expect to be able to make the sketchcrawl this time.
