Portland, Oregon - March 6th SketchCrawl

Liska and I will be crawling about town on the sixth.
We'd like to start downtown on the West Side, perhaps for coffee at Stumptown?
Or gathering for breakfast—wouldn't that be fun? Gotta have fuel!
Any other Oregonians up to the challenge?

Enrico -- Thanks for the inspiration, beautiful art, and cool forum.

John -- Sounds good to me. I also look forward to finally meeting Liska.

I thought about some interesting places to visit and came up with a possible itinerary:

* Pearl District: Eat breakfast, enjoy the city views and storefronts. Streetcar to...
* Powell's City of Books: They have some nice sights, a cafe, and interesting characters. Walk to...
* North Park Blocks: Trees, flowers, old buildings, and benches. Walk to...
* Chinatown: Lunch at House of Louie. Walk to...
* Tom McCall Waterfront Park: Lovely views and entertaining characters. Walk across the Steel Bridge to...
* Eastbank Esplanade: Serene park with great views of bridges, Willamette and the city beyond it. Walk back across the Hawthorn Bridge to...
* River Place or downtown, eat dinner, and call it a day.

This route would require about 4 miles of walking. We can also easily add stopping points or trim this down to fit our respective schedules and interests.

Thoughts?

You, my friend, are such the talented planner.
Your outline's fabulous (even if it does omit Stumptown).
If I think of anything to add or subtract, I'll let you know.
I guess it doesn't have to be perfect—there's always next time!

Did you have a breakfast destination in mind?
Byways is fun (and only five or so blocks north of Powell's)!

I wanna thank you, too, Enrico,
for the inspirational kick in the pants.

If'n I can still stand on the 6th, I'll be there. Angstorm's list sounds fine to me, I can't think of any additions (that I'd be willing to walk to. :))

angstorm's itinerary sounds like a great walkabout.

I ventured through DT-PDX for the last 'Crawl. This time 'round, I'm going to do the SE ArtWalk & SketchCrawl all at once. The ArtWalk is both Saturday & Sunday. Go to SE Portland ArtWalk.com for additional info. Figured I'd look at art & sketch the SE neighborhoods (and hoodlums).

arashikami (storm diety?) - Great idea!

The ArtWalk sounds a lot more interesting than my suggested itinerary. I'm sure we'll see all sorts of good art and meet cool people. For drawing, SE has many beautiful old houses and trees, kitschy junk shops, tasty restaurants, and great views of downtown from Mt. Tabor.

How about we meet at 10 AM for breakfast at the Berlin Inn (menu). The Inn is close to the west-most points of interest on the ArtWalk map. We just walk east-ish and see the sights. Thoughts?

FYI, my cell phone is 503-952-6556.

Well-Congealed

Artwalk seems a fine idea, fellows.
Shall we consider the plan congealed?

Liska and I may have recruited three or four more crawlers.
Should be a nice-sized group, come Sunday.

It'd be cool if everyone could bring along a few samples of their work for us to look at.

I also emailed locals Greg Epkes and Anne Timmons, they posted here last time. Maybe they'll join us too.

See y'all soon!
