It is exactly one month before the ninth Worldwide Sketchcrawl! Now that there are a number of new names in the forum I would like to encourage the most experienced among us to step up and offer some advice to first-time crawlers. What has helped you the most in previous Sketchcrawls? What art supplies would you recommend? How did you overcome fears of sketching in public? etc...
I'll go first -- if you haven't tried drawing in public now is the time to start. Try a sketch a day. And the best advice I received, and tried to put into action at my first Sketchcrawl last year, was advice I received from Enrico... "draw what you see, not what you know."

Yeah, definitely draw what you see and not what you know... also don't start comparing yourself with other peoples drawings because that's a good way to get frustrated and then your drawings will be all stiff and frustrated.
Stay relaxed!
And another good piece of advice is keep an eye on where the group is, or have someone's cel number in case you wander off...

Proceed quietly and with a sense of 'place' if you are out doors in nature. It is not just the destination but truly the path there that is also a part of the sketchcrawl experience.
