Down for a big day of sketching fun around the end of this month? here's some information about a big sketch group going down later this month. email me and i can give you more info and my contact information:

Can i get a "Moo" from the field???

...because it's time for another big CATL Sketch Group meeting!

This time the big trip is going to be visiting the Fernbank Natural History Museum, specifically to see the Imperial Rome exhibit.

The game plan currently is to meet up at 9:45 am at the fernbank center off of ponce deleon ave / u.s. 78 on the morning of Saturday October 28, and go in at roughly the same time.

Kindly RSVP if you're planning on coming out, since we don't want to leave anyone behind. Probably we'll spend 3-4 hours drawing at the museum, grab a bite to eat afterwards, and then head to some larger coffee-shop-type facility (suggestions on which? maybe the Borders on peachtree--> free parking and lots of space) for another couple of hours of drawing.

[All of the following information is from the fernbank website...]
Imperial Rome
On view September 23, 2006 - January 3, 2007
350 Years of Legendary History
450 Incredible Artifacts

HOURS
Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday noon to 5 p.m.

Ticket Information
Admission to Imperial Rome is included with Museum admission. Museum
admission is $12 for adults, $11 for students and seniors and $10 for
children ages 12 and under.

Special Offer (probably not a possibility, but i thought i'd mention it anyways...)
Continue your exploration of treasures from ancient Rome at the
Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University, located just one mile
away from Fernbank. Its permanent collection exhibition of 450 Greek
and Roman masterworks makes the Carlos a destination for discovering
the classical world year-round. Plus, the special exhibition In
Stabiano: Exploring the Ancient Seaside Villas of the Roman Elite, on
view through October 22, 2006, provides a rare look inside the opulent
vacation homes of Rome's ruling class through 73 frescoes, stuccoes,
and household furnishings, most of which have never before left Italy.

...and they want the drawings you made of THEIR stuff BACK from the future..."

The CATL Sketch Group trip to the Fernbank Natural history museum is
officially upon us, and will go down tomorrow: Saturday, 28th October.

The game plan is to meet up at 9:45 am at the Fernbank Natural History
Museum facility center off of ponce deleon ave / u.s. 78 (767 Clifton
Rd NE Atlanta, GA 30307.) on the morning of Saturday October 28, and
go in at roughly the same time when the museum opens at 10:00a.m. Some
of you have indicated that you'll be arriving later, which is
certainly fine. just give me a so-called "holler" at some point
tomorrow am with an ETA. My thinking is that we draw for 4 hours or
so, then head out for lunch and after that maybe grab a coffee at some
spacious coffeeshop — we'll definitely be playing things by ear. Note
that some of the most fun sketching and CATL-art-fellowship goes down
after the big outing as kind of a "CATL sketch Group afterparty" sort
of thing.

Click the following link for directions to Fernbank from google maps:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&s ... 4,0.578842

Once you have this loaded you should be able to put in your start
address and figure it out. the short of it is to get onto
ponce_de_leon and go east. you'll see a sign and will need to turn
left at clifton rd. once you get a good ways down ponce. again, the
street address for fernbank is "767 Clifton Rd NE Atlanta, GA 30307."

Don't forget to sharpen your pencils. I will not let you draw with
charcoal sized pellets of my shoe-crud like last time :)

I hope to see everyone there, let me know if you have any questions.
The cell phone telephone number in the signature is going to be the
best way to reach me, and please don't hesitate to call even if it is
late tonight or early tomorrow AM.

I hope to see you wonderful, inspiring artists tomorrow for a day of
sketching debauchery. Forecast: it looks like this very trip may be
the biggest CATL sketchgroup trip we've ever had--> special treat :)

regards,
joel
