Los Angeles

Post by GINKO »

Hi, Anyone out there from L.A. ?

I am located in Pasadena, it is a long drive to S.F. so I figure a local one would be nice.

Suggested route:

The Gold Train Route. (Downtown L.A. <--> Pasadena) Either way would work for me.

- A day pass is $3

- Multiple intersting sites, e.g.

*South Pasadena Downtown

*Arroyo Seco
including the Limus House
http://bob-taylor.com/lummis.htm

*China Town

*Union station

...etc..etc... we probably won't be able to cover them all.

What do you think?

Very good.

gittens7, I don't know how long you've been in L.A... the Gold Train has been up for maybe over a year or so... it is not a very typical L.A. experience, but there is lots of history in this part of town.

ICM/Alina, great to learn that there is a recent Crawl, I search for your posting back in Jul. Seems like FUN.

Did the resulting sketches post in this forum?

Cheers!!!

Is this the Metro Gold line?

Post by Ice-Cream Monster »

Ginko,

Is this the gold line you mention? I never take the train in LA either ... don't quite know how it works. :P

Gold Train

Post by GINKO »

ICM, that's the one :o This brochure is great.

As you see, Gold Line is connected to all other trains at Union Station.

Usually, I'll buy a day pass. With that, our crawlers can get in and out of the train all day.

Cheers!!

Pick one location?

Post by GINKO »

Looking at the Gold Line Brochure, I realize that, there are more places that we can possibly cover in one day.

http://www.metro.net/news_info/publicat ... ations.pdf

I start to wonder that if it is better for us to pick ONE location with a few interesting spot and stay there.

Any idea?

Idea brainstorming

Post by Ice-Cream Monster »

Here are my brain storming ideas:

- ChinaTown to Union Station area - Downtown LA

- Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street area

- Los Angeles Arboretum Garden (Admission is 7 bucks, Free parking)

Please feel free to come up with more ideas or suggestions!! :)

Post by Ice-Cream Monster »

WOW!! Thanks for the posting Enrico, I have to go!! YEAH!! See you on Sat.

As for next LA Sketchcrawl, Olvera Street is definitly a great place, it's very festive on weekends too!! You guys have my vote for this location!! Plus they have yummy and cheap food there ... HE ! HE!! And if we have time, we can walk across street to China Town too.

Little Tokoyo is great too ... so many choices. HE ! HE!!

Great Show

Post by GINKO »

Enrico, Definitely will go to see the show. (Can't make it to the reception though, too bad, work. )

Thanks for showing up in L.A.

-------------------for the Crawl day...

Olvera Street is always a great choice. Does anyone like the Union Station building? Very grand interior, sort of like a country club for gentlemen in a bygone era. Within walking distance to Olvera Street as well.
