This was my second SketchCrawl. It was a beautiful day in Golden Gate Park. Here are some of my sketches, starting with a quick study at the front of the De Young Museum.
Then, a few of us headed out to the Botanical Gardens, where I found a quaint pond with huge jumping carp, ducks, geese, turtles, and more. The vegetation provided lots of moody drama.
On our way back to the 2 o'clock meet-up, we discovered a didgeridoo performance underway on the sidewalk. What an amazing instrument! No time to sketch, though. We met, looked at books, and talked for a few minutes, then we all split off for new locations. I found a jug band concert underway and sketched some of the spectators.
Finally, I wandered back to the museum entry area, where I found a bizarre bronze putti, ivy and nude encrusted urn. Good challenge. I sketched the upper portion.
Our last meeting location was a huge empty fountain in the plaza, so I went early to sketch the cement lion centerpiece, and Gary, who was sketching other sketchers sitting near me.
Once again, lots of nice people.
