San Francisco - California - USA

I'm just getting the suggestion box started, but how
does "Pacific Heights" sound? I heard there are
breath-taking multi-million $ Victorian style homes.
One problem are the steep hills  The other
issue would be Pacific Heights being split into 3
sections (east, west and lower). Maybe just shoot
for 1 section? There should also be some cool cafe's
and places to eat & draw.

I'd still love to do a whole sketchcrawl in chinatown ... but I am still very open to suggestions ... Pacific Heights is not bad either ... and I certainly agree with the notion of trying to cover less ground with this one ... less walk more draw !

Pacific Heights sounds good to me.

East Bay anyone?

Chinatown is great! There's also a Chinatown in downtown Oakland that is less crowded, though maybe a little seedier. It's near BART and not too far from Jack London Square and the bay, also seedier than SF, but interesting nonetheless.

The trouble with going to a residential area is -- intense looking can be taken as scoping for a burglary. It's happened to me, even though I was clearly set up for sketching.

In Pacific Heights they are well used to people admiring their buildings!

There is also a commercial district and a park. Here's some more info on the neighborhood:

There is also a cafe/laundromat:

and another funky cafe:

There's a new voting poll for the location of San Francisco-Sketchcrawl #17.

Yay I get to come to SketchCrawl again! I've had to miss so many in a row, I'm running low on sketching fuel...
I voted Chinatown, because I think there might be a lot of cool architecture and colors and tourist and local people to draw. Neighborhoods might have less people around, but the main streets might have lots of people (my favorite!). There could be some neat markets too, maybe, and some good hole-in-the-wall Chinese places to eat at.
Either place we go, I'm super excited! YAY

Hey,

I'm new to this whole thing and love the idea of doing a group sketching get together.

China town sounds like a great idea. Interesting people, culture, food, and atmosphere. I don't mind walking at all and could meet up anywhere. The Udon sounds delicious and I would probably hang out earlier for some food stuffs.

I'm just hoping for sunshine!!!

Nice job, Gerald!

Sf or Redwood City, I'm not yet sure which!

I've loved sketchcrawling in SF, and have gathered small groups in Redwood City environs in past years, missed the last few 'crawls, and will be getting back into town the evening before this upcoming one.
Chinatown sounds great to do again, it's always brand new, and there are interesting places to duck indoors if it's pouring rain.

Redwood City's old courthouse is now open as a museum, and I haven't been in there yet, speaking of rainy-day alternatives (on this rainy day).

hmm. hmm.

love all around,
Ruth
