Corvallis-Oregon [RESULTS]

Post by creativedialog »

For this SketchCrawl three of us participated but only two of us made sketches. Since we now have nice weather, we went to the Corvallis riverfront where the weekly Saturday Market was taking place. We spent the morning sketching the vendors, entertainers as well as some of the nearby buildings.
However before I left home I had to also sketch Ping & Pong. This is a requirement they created and enforce.

Once at the Farmers market I made a sketch of the main intersection, it is far more involved than I originally intended. The goal was to include more people in a single sketch than anyone else.
Image
Next I drew a singer who was sitting close by. I was hoping he would put some money in my hat.
Image
Finally I went a bit further down to where I had a view of the County Courthouse which also happened to be next to an open forum where I heard from many disgruntled citizens.

It was now about 1PM so I went home in order to post these images however someone had driven into a power pole and we had no power until about 6:30.
I recently started a blot which includes a number of recent sketches and paintings.
It is at http://creativedialog.blogspot.com
My web site is at http://www.creativedialog.com
Thank you for creating such a fun event.

Mike, I love all of your sketches, but the second one is truly great! You will probably win the prize for sketching the most people.

Mike - Ping & Pong really look like they run the place!! Wow!! Wonderful market sketch with so many people! Great job on the singer. Love all the details in your sketches. The last on is just super. I enjoyed seeing the work on your blog. I like your idea of bringing a waterbrush with a drop of ink to do shading. I'll have to try that some time. Good work!!

I'm having a great time looking through all the sketches throughout the world! I'm interested in joining you all next time here in Corvallis. I may be able to recruit some folks from sketching classes that I am teaching this summer and fall.

I don't know where you have gone in the past. I like the 'crawl' concept, cafe to cafe; crawl up the bike path from Central Park to OSU to the Covered Bridge; sketching up Bald Hill; Saturday market was a great idea too and a good idea to re-visit. We could even do the Alley Art walk down Madison Street sketching all the art in the Allies.

How much patience for drawing that all people in the market!
It's great!!! Maybe I'll try me too to draw another market scene (here in London)
