Whitetop Mountain and Grayson Highlands State Park, VA, USA

Somehow I got talked into manning the Whitetop train station this summer, in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area in the south-western part of Virginia, USA. Right down next to where Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee all meet. It's a beautiful part of the world, if somewhat hilly. So I'm going to try to make a habit of doing at least one crawl a week. Starting from the Whitetop Train Station at the southern end of the Virginia Creeper Trail but there's no telling where I'll end up. It's in easy driving distance of the Appalachian trail and Grayson Highlands State Park so I'll have my choice of lovely views! (Not to mention within rock-throwing distance of the New River, several creeks with nice boulders and a number of beautiful rocks in the road cuts over route 600.) So if anyone is in the area Saturday/Sunday between now and October, or Friday/Monday starting May 22, I'll do my crawl that day. If not, I'll do it whatever day is prettiest. Hope to see you 'round!
