Of sparrows and Bubbles
Greetings, sketch crawlers! Olga and Verena, I'm sorry I didn't see your post until later on today - I had some prior engagements in the morning and didn't get to checking the forums til later on. I hope you had fun and look forward to hearing about your crawl!
I got together with a couple of other artists and went for a wander through town today. Fortunately we didn't have rain, but yesterday's sunshine would have certainly been welcome.
I started my crawl in front of my house, and decided to kill some time drawing the facade...
Then I continued with a quick sketch on the bus. I was surprised I could draw at all, because the bus usually sways all over the place. This guy was playing with his phone and blowing bubbles with his gum.
From our meeting point in Alexanderplatz, we walked over to the Nikolaiviertel, where I doodled a skull on one of the grave carvings on the church wall. It looked old and spooky, since you expect cherubs and flowers in church scenery.
Continuing on to the canal, we stopped in front of the statue of Saint George and the dragon, and did some drawing of tourists, sparrows, pigeons, and each other. Some people walking past stopped and asked to have a look.
When we started to get cold, we walked up past the old Palast der Republik, or rather, the leftovers of the building, as well as the ruins of the original palace that stood there before the war. We walked past the Cathedral to Hackescher Markt, where we saw people making giant bubbles.
