I didn't calculate the mileage so ended up walking more than drawing. Started out over by the free parking near Crissy Field. With such great weather people were everywhere. Here's a couple and their dog soaking up the sunshine, and a guy with his bicycle enjoying a fresh air read. Then I walked over to the Exploratorium and Palace of Fine Arts. The Exploratorium is a great place to draw. Lots of kids, lots of different kinds of activity. People focused on some activity or other. Here's a kid learning how sailboats work; A man fascinated by making a huge soap bubble. There was construction blocking access to the Palace of Fine Arts so I got a view from the duck pond. What a fabulous building. Then I headed out toward Golden Gate Park. And walked and walked and walked . . . whew! Well, it was good exercise. But a great view of the city, block by block. That crowd we were at the De Young Museum Café ! We must have been more than a hundred ! After the group photos at the De Young I walked back and saw the moon full and rising over a city glittering with streetlights and still warmed in pinks and orange by the lowering sun. What a great day.

Hey, what a great crawl today. My images are from the Japan Town area. I think someone counted about 85 people at the end sharing sketchbooks! Could someone post that huge group photo?

Thanks so much for organizing another wonderful sketchcrawl! We met up at Peets and then sketched in and around the Ferry Building; never made it to the DeYoung. It was a gorgeous day and so much fun to sketch and meet some new sketchers.

Here's the dude entertaining pigeons with his off-key clarinet outside Peets:

A sketch grid mostly done at the table at Hog Island Oysters (yummy lunch!):

We hogged the table too long to start painting.

Now to get the rest uploaded to my blog: <http:JanasJournal.com>

Nice crowd at de Young, good to see people from previous SketchCrawls and some new additions.

Being that this was an open location for the start of the day (and having started late - with a commute drive to SF), my plan was to sketch outside and around the Legion of Honor building, but never got there :) Noticed there was a trail very close to the golden gate along the west coast, and ventured downwards (Batteries to Bluffs Trail)

Below are the two sketches I did.

Going upwards however was as challenging as the climb to the Coit Tower via Filbert steps, not as easy going up as it was to go down :silent: lol
Tired, hot, thirsty and hungry I drove to the deYoung cafe and ate a late lunch, and just relaxed until the meetup 30 mins later.

Great participation and great efforts from everyone. We hope to see your art in the forum soon!

I was flying to Detroit today and drawing as I go.. so does this qualify for sketch crawl points in multiple states across the union? Let's see- California, Nevada, Utah, alittle Colorado, a little Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan..

I'll try to post here but if I screw it up- please go to http://shublog.wordpress.com/

ah, hell I'm an idiot. I don't think that worked.. did it? we'll never know..
