New York, NY, USA [RESULTS]
New York, NY, USA [RESULTS]
We had a great turnout here at Grand Central Terminal in NYC today, in spite of the snowy weather forecast. Here are a few pics of the group. There were a few more who weren't in the photo - sorry! Sketches to follow.
Re: New York, NY, USA [RESULTS]
I started my Sketchcrawl on the Metro-North train from Stamford, CT, to Grand Central Terminal. Here are the materials I took with me, plus a camera and small folding stool.
Did a few quick sketches of kiosks and the shoe polishers while waiting for the "official" meet-up time:
I met up with the other Sketchcrawlers at 11 a.m. at the GCT info desk -- we agreed to wander about and then meet up at 1 p.m. for a bite to eat and to share our drawings.
It was lots of fun, and hopefully future Sketchcrawls in NYC will be similarly well attended!

Thank you for this little trip to New York for all the rest of us! What a great offering! I especially love the family portrait!

Here is my little piece for the day. 8x11 gouache on cardboard.
Sorry for all the people we didn't see. Had a great day anyway.
Hope to see you next time.

I would love to get into the city to join your group for one of these. I'm about 1 1/2 hrs out on Long Island, and my sister who I usually sketchcrawl with is in NJ. There are so many great places I can think of to sketch there, even inside like you did.
Sumacm - Thanks for the photos. Great sketches of the carts and the info desk! Grand Central was a perfect choice for yesterday!
Leonard - Great job on the clock and info booth!!!
Sunilo - Nice people sketches and the one of the train. I like that you did a final sketch at home too.

We had a good-sized group who came out to the Museum of Natural History. We drew there most of the day and then went to a diner to eat and share sketchbooks. It's great to see all the Grand Central posts!
Here are some of my sketches from the museum:

And here are some photos of the day:
Meaghan, Diana, Allan and Cynthea
There were a large group of kids drawing in the same room. Sketchcrawl for all ages!
It was snowing when we left the museum around 4:30.

Jose, Christi and Piya
The remnants of the holidays.
A couple of us also went to check out the James Jean gallery show. If you're in NY, you should definitely go see it.

It was great to get out and draw with such a nice group. Lots of good work, guys! Grand Central is an endless fountain of subjects to draw. What a resource for us NY-ers. (Plus they have good & cheap samosas. Yum.)

Cynthia - Great bug sketches. Love the deer too!
Alisa - I love the dinosaurs...what would that museum be without them? Wonderful sketches of people and animals. Thanks for the photos. Maybe I'll get into the city to join the group for one of the crawls.
Alan - Great bones, statue and heads!!
