Seattle, WA - USA

Hey Group!

I heard some great suggestions for the next crawl! The two I heard were Woodland Park Zoo, and The international district. I personally love both those ideas. I think there would be some great work that comes out of both.

Woodland Park Zoo is awesome! With great areas and animals to draw! Pending on how busy it is parking can sometimes be a problem and of course its not free to get into

The International District sounds fun too... It has great places to meet and there is usually easy street parking. I head down there quite often and I know the area pretty good so if there is any issues I might be able to help.

So what do you guys think of these two suggestions? I can't wait to see you all again here in the near future!

I like drawing in the zoo when the weather's nice, but in bad weather, a lot of the animals tend to hang out in their shelters. My vote would be to do the international district this next time, and the zoo the next time. That said, Woodland Park is big enough, I doubt it'll be hard to find animals out and about, so if people are excited about the zoo, I'm game! :)

Haha I hear ya on that! I didn't think about the weather and the animals not being out because of it... I'm still up for whatever but that is a very good point!

These are both great ideas! I guess I'd agree there's a better chance to see the animals in summer. But I will watch and learn, and see you all wherever is selected for Seattle's SC22.

Hey guys

I was gonna order some shirts. I was thinking I could order a few extra and bring them to the next crawl? If that sounds like a good plan let me know and ill put some orders in and who ever wants one can just give me the money at the next crawl!

Talk to you all soon

Hi Seattle crawlers! I'm hoping to get to the International District soon to hunt for good meeting places for next Sketchcrawl. Would anyone like to join me? Dates, times?

Also would like to recommend to you all that you check out Seattle Plein Air at meetup.com. We try to organize informal meetups around Seattle to paint/draw/sketch, a little more often than beloved sketchcrawl. We have included Sketchcrawl on our calendar for a while too. Here's the link:

http://art.meetup.com/273/

To see details, you must sign up, but this is free. The SPA organizer (not me) asks for $3 dues per year but there is no deadline for this, so you can check it out and decide later whether to pay and join formally.

Upcoming meetup at Green Lake tomorrow, February 8, 2009! Would love to see you! You are welcome to email me for details if you can't get them from the link above.

Thanks to Oliver for your advice on posting this!

Wow Beth that sounds awesome!! I will look into your artist community!

I was thinking Oasis might be a good place to meet up in the international district. it is the biggest cafe they got there that I know of. It's bubble tea, which if anyone hasn't tried it I think you really should give it whorl! If that sounds good I will get you guys the exact address. If not I would love to go around and look for a different spot. I'm free to do it anytime as long as I have about a weeks notice.

Thanks Beth for your invite

Josh, how great you already know a good place! We can Google Oasis' address! Sounds lovely, I trust your judgment! If everyone else likes it too we are all set.
Have you already ordered Sketchcrawl t-shirts? That was a cool idea but I failed to respond promptly to your offer. I will be ordering a giant nightshirt-size one (like men's XL or larger) unless you have an extra to sell me!

Actually I got no replies or e mails from anyone so I only got myself a few, but I didn't want to spend to much and be left with shirts I couldn't even wear, plus I'm kinda broke haha, so just order your own. Sorry about that I guess I could of wrote another comment letting everyone know that...

Well, sorry about that, but ill see you all soon!

Hey, that's fine, Josh! I know I didn't ask you soon enough! Better NOT to get extra shirts and worry about unloading them!
See you soon!

Hey, Josh, the only Oasis I find by googling is at 1024 E Pike St, more capitol hill than the International District. Is this the one you mean? I have nothing against capitol hill either. I think of the International District as down by Safeco Field, sort of south-and-south-of downtown. Help me! When I tell Seattle Plein Air meetup group about this sketchcrawl I want to describe the right area. I'm sure either area would be great!
Thanks!
I may still go down and scout out spots down in that more southerly neighborhood, for future SPA or sketchcrawl options, on about Feb. 18th around 11 in the morning. If you'd like to join me let me know and we can figure it out more.

Neighborhood: International District
519 6th Ave S
Seattle, WA 98104
(206) 447-8098

This is the one I'm talking about. its right in the heart of china town! Its a pretty cool place! You might want to head down there to take a look before we make it the final meeting spot. Its the biggest place I think we would be able to find, but it can get loud in there at times!

If you want to still head down there and have someone come with you just give me a heads up and I'll be down to go!

Thank you! This address IS definitely in the ID. Don't know why I didn't find it in my online search! I trust your judgment on it as a meeting spot. I'll let you know if I go down to look around before the real crawl. (Always after another opportunity to wander around and sketch.)
Thanks again for clearing that up! I am easily confused sometimes.

Probably depends on what you typed in... I typed in Oasis bubble tea.

Yeah let me know if you head there or anywhere else. I'm down there often enough, so who knows I may be already planning on being there!

Thanks, Josh! I may still go down to satisfy my curiosities on the 18th -- will let you know! NOT IF IT SNOWS! By the way, I am adding you as a Sketchcrawl friend, you have been such a great resource. Please let me know if that's annoying and I'll undo it.
