Thanks for posting all those fun pictures of us, Ayal! I'll have to get my drawings up here too. Lemme check with my man what we can do. Talking with friends about doing this more often since SC is only five times a year. If any of you from the Netherlands are interested, e-mail me at: power.pierson@gmail.com. Anyway, next time in The Hague for sure!

Nice line and fine gradation! Less paint giving great effects on this riverside view.

Jacob - Love your sketch of the bridege and the sketches of the rest of your weekend. What did you sketch with? Are these just ink & washes? I like the look!!

Ayal - Thanks for the photos of your group! Great sketches of the buildings and people. Looks like you had fun!

Matt - Great sketches from along the waterfront!!

Thank you people

Joan T: thanks for your interest in the technique! The bridge and "pond in Vondelpark" are supermarket-spotty-cheap-ink-pen :) drawings combined with wash by a moist hard brush (I use a sponge for that), the tone varies depending how long you wait with the wash; I typically use pen and brush throughout the drawing. For me it is a nice minimal-tools way, combines well with standing. The others are brush with ink from an ink block, sometimes supported with a pen (canoe & fence) sometimes only brush (the last two). This allows more layering I think.

Well, that's it, I'm hopeless. I did my best to upload the image, but this is the best I can do, for now...:

Have a look if you feel so inclined! Jacob, I really enjoyed the boats on the canal and finding out about your sketchboard trick! Hope to see you all in the future!

Best Regards, Kim Power
