Washington, D.C.

Post by jhfloyd »

I'm new to the SketchCrawl world (in addition to sketching in general) but I'm hoping to start some interest in a DC location that day. I may be able to convince my family for an outing that heads near a meeting area so I can sit for a bit and sketch.

Whatdoya DC, NoVA, MD sketchers think?

Dupont Circle?
Chinatown?
Eastern Market?
U Street?
Adams Morgan?
The Mall?
Embassy Row?
Rock Creek Park?
Georgetown?
National Zoo?
Somewhere else?

I believe Jan posted this once or twice before- http://tinyurl.com/sketchdc

I'm open to going wherever - I haven't lived here long enough to have a strong opinion about it...Just name the time and place and I'll get there! My only request would be that it's easy to get to on the Metro...

Georgetown might be nice. There are all those nifty alleys and there is the nice path along the Canal, below. You could meet at Leopold's Kafe Konditorei, in Cady's Alley: http://www.cadysalley.com/showstore.php?id=72

Dupont Circle would provide much for us to see, whether we walk around or park ourselves in the center of the circle by the fountain.

Eastern Market would also provide a lot of people, neighborhood and the market itself to sketch.

Or we could go to 2000 S Street and camp out waiting for the Real World cast to appear and sketch-stalk them for a day. (Just kidding)

All are Metro accessible.

Chinatown/Gallery Place, U Street, Adams Morgan would all be good spots for the same basic reasons too...

Georgetown would be a lot of fun too, but of course not as easy to get to by Metro.

Any votes?

Also,

Who is still in for sketching?

JHFloyd/ Jay?
Diahnott?
Studio-1-F/ Jan?
Lorifromva/ Lori?
peculiarjbird/ Julia?

And of course- anyone else!

Okay!

let's do Dupont Circle then. It should provide a variety of stuff, and it is easy to get to. I'll be somewhere around the fountain if I get there first.

I'll be the one sitting and sketching stuff :) and I look like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QbLq3c6EhwA/S ... ian140.jpg

I'm going to try and be there around 10:30 - 11, and I am sure I will be there for a while if anyone else wants to meet up!
