Just want to bring up a weather consideration ... seem like it's going to be raining cats and dogs.
May be we should set up an alternative location?

I can't think of any in door locations. Could someone list some cool places for consideration. All the places I sketch are outdoors.
Re: Los Angeles, CA

Re: Los Angeles, CA
How about Union Station (the parking lot is underground, so you don't have to get out in the rain!) I took a Metro station art tour earlier this month, and I learned that there are lots of stuff to see inside the station - plus you can take the metro from there to Hollywood + Highland mall and Kodak Theater where it's semi-indoors. Might be interesting to check it out if we have time, esp. since they are probably getting ready for Oscars.
Indoor malls are good rainy-day options. In addition to Gitten's suggestions, newly-built Westfield Culver City mall has a very large/tall interior, with subtle uses of light.

Union Station could work, benches to sit on, and nice crowds of passersby to sketch.
Another possibility is the Central Library.
Cheers!

Yes, I heard from another crawler that inside the Central Library in downtown LA should be nice and cozy - plus, there's indoor Panda Express and a lot of walking distance food places!

Central Library is good location to draw. They have beautiful murals in there, good for inspiration.
Another good indoor location is Getty Cernter.
I believe Sat is the last day of the Rembrandt special exhibition. If anyone want to catch the show before it closed, this would be a good time. You could draw and get inspiration at the same time!! And they have food and cafe there as well.

I was going to go to the Getty after the crawl (the parking is free after 5pm on Saturdays, normally parking is $15) - and seems like people are leaning toward being around Downtown LA/Pasadena?

Sorry for my late input...but the idea of the Central Library sounds really cool. I'm pretty open to anything as long as we don't get caught in the rain
Thanks for organizing & for the great suggestions, everyone! Looking forward to seeing your work in the Nucleus show, Alina!
PS. The Rembrandt exhibit at the Getty is indeed amazing...check it out if you can!

It's pretty annoying about the rain. I'm still planning on coming down, and should have a few people with me.
I run a small drawing group in Santa Barbara.

Since it looks like it's going to be raining this weekend, I guess the LA Zoo goes back into the pool of possible locations.

Re: Los Angeles, CA
Seems like many people like the idea to sketch in Downtown.
We never have a crawl at the Central Libray before, and many of you seem to like the library idea. Let's go to there for the Crawl!!
A buck parking + food on location + pretty murals + warm and toasty location on a raining day ... it sounds sweet!
Central Library
630 W. 5th Street
Los Angeles, CA 90071
http://www.lapl.org/central/
Library hours on Sat - 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Let's say we meet up at the Rotunda area in the library - around 10:30am. That's second floor - Galleries.

Re: Los Angeles, CA
Is it the Central library? Havent been to Central Library for a while but is that the best alternative site and is the LA Zoo off for sure? Just wondering if anyone will try to dodge the weather bullet and show up to the Zoo anyways. Any thoughts on this?
Central Library seems like it may have great architecture but not too many people moving around in interesting ways. Can anyone thats familar to the place give us the low-down? What time we meeting....10 am.? Hope all is well.
