SAN FRANCISCO,CA

I'm thinking about Feb - what about something down near China Basin? Love the heavy industrial, wonderful old power buildings and water and that fabulous enormous abandoned grain elevator. Probably be pack your own lunch....

I went to look around yesterday, it might take having a car, not sure. Maybe starting at The Ramp ( where Mariposa ends at Illinois) and then crawling south down Illinois. There are wonderful abandoned buildings, cranes, boats on the water, views across the bay. Yesterday there was a huge white ship with a big red cross on it and a couple other ships. At 22nd and 3rd is Dog Patch where there are cafes and food. I would like to get all the way down to where Illinois crosses over an inlet of water just south of Cezar Chaves. The map posted previously will help you see it, it's all south of where the "A" is, not China Basin but a bit south of that. If someone else is interested maybe you can go down and take a look. All that will be razed soon I"m thinking and some of those old buildings are really wonderful.

It would be fun, esp. if more people join. Do you have a way of letting people know about it?

Did some scouting around yesterday, posted these images to my facebook site so you can see what's there. Think I;m going to do this crawl regardless cause I've been wanting to do it for some time now. Plan on starting at the Ramp for breakfast at 9:30am (there's a great white ship with a huge red cross painted on it just on the water there) and head south on Illinois and take the side streets down towards the water. Hopefully I'll see some of you there!

Hi,

What options are there for parking?
