Hello! Newbie here after my first SC, and I've volunteered to start the result post from Paris, France .

We had a great day sketching along the Canal St. Martin, from Republique up to the bassin de la Villette. If any of you are fans of French cinema, yes, this is the famous canal you see in Amelie Poulain and Hotel du Nord, among others.

We were ten people (I think - someone correct me if I've counted wrong!), and the weather was pretty good - 15°C (50°F) and mostly sunny. I've done up a little map to show you our route, and will start off this post with my very "sketchy" sketches. Other people should be posting over the next few days, so please check back!

Also, thank you Martine for so thoughtfully organizing our event - from your "recon" work, to showing up with your guide book and sharing your knowledge of the area, to arranging for the sun to come out on what had otherwise been so dismal a week !

Bonjour ! Voici je lance les resultats de Paris, comme prevu.

La journee etait un succes - avec plein des bons dessins qu'on a realise tout au long du canal St. Martin, ainsi que des bonnes rencontres. On etait dix personnes (merci de me corriger si j'ai mal compte !). Le temps faisait assez beau - autour du 15° avec juste quelques nuages.

Voici un petit plan qui montre notre parcours, et mes croquis bien "rapide". Les autres participants vont afficher leurs resultats dans les jours qui viennent, donc merci d'y retourner.

J'aimerais remercier Martine pour son organisation formidable, d'avoir effectue une reconnaissance des lieux avant le jour de notre rdv, d'etre venue avec son guide en main, et d'avoir partage toutes ses infos sur le quartier, les batiments, etc.

First I'd like to thank Kim for starting the thread and immediately posting her sketches . In fact there were only 9 of us, but such a nice and dynamic group for a very pleasant day. We hope there will be more next time !

Here are some of my drawings of the canal Saint Martin, done during the sketchcrawl last saturday. The locks are quite impressive I must say. It doesn't feel like you are in Paris.

Lovely sketches! I love the map so we can see where you went too. Nice touch.
Some of the trees you all did are fabulous.

I may be living in Paris in 6 months from now, so I may be able to join you for the sketch crawls when I arrive.
It`s wonderful to know there is a group in Paris!

Beautifull sketches and a great team you've got for the sketchcrawl.
It's really a great way to know some parts of the cities that normally we don't know from.

Loved the drawings of the Canal. Really, it doesn't look Paris.

Hi Paris Sketchers,

very nice sketches - and photos of the group ! (and some delicious food)
However you organized the nice weather and sun to come out . can you please advise your tricks for us in Munich ? We are having trouble with that (had rain and maybe 8 degrees max on saturday) and are waiting for real summer for the next crawl .

Martine, what you can with so little colour is amazing - I am always using too much colour (and realize when the damage is done), your tree trunk is phantastic !
