Washington DC, USA [RESULTS]
I won't be in town for this one, but I hope a group still get together!

Re: Washington DC, USA
Hello DC artists and sketchers! Our leader Christian is out of town this month but don't worry we can still pull this off. I am planning to go sketching with Douglas Kingsbury and anyone else who wants to join us. We know there is no entrance fee on Saturday July 31st at the Corcoran Art Gallery downtown near the White House and a free figure model posing in the gallery set up for artists to draw. That is the only stop we have considered so far but I am open to suggestions of where to set our sights. Perhaps a stroll to Renwick Gallery and Lafayette Park where there is plenty of shade and seating... Or some other direction?
What do you think?

Dual Sketch Crawlers!
Glory, the creator of http://ihatemy9to5.com/ and brilliant Illustrator Elizabeth Graeber http://elizabethgraeber.com/ are planning a July 17th DC Sketch Crawl spanning the Monuments to the National Zoo, and I encourage everyone to join in.
Go to http://elizabethgraeber.com/html/sketchcrawl.html to find out more, and register (for free) to let them know who is in.
It looks like a big group has already registered to join in, and I imagine it will be a lot of fun to do.
But don't forget about the 31st at the Corchoran too!

Re: Washington DC, USA
So just to clarify,
the Corcoran figure drawing event seems to be sold out. Are we still to meet at the Corcoran? (and if so, where in the gallery) Will we be going elsewhere from there?

Also,

Re: Washington DC, USA
I'll be at the Corcoran, but I'm not sure how to identify anybody else since this is my first sketchcrawl.
Re: Washington DC, USA

Re: Washington DC, USA
That's right going to the Corcoran to sketch will be for middle of our sketch crawl and we won't be there to meet you until after 1 PM
I am leading off this Sketch Crawl with a meet up in Farragut Square at 10:30 AM
We will meet there in the shade. I have a big straw hat and a little blue folding stool I use that should help you spot me.
We will amble along to Decatur House at the corner of H St. and Conn. Ave. NW and enter Lafayette Square for an hour and drop into the original Corcoran now known as the Renwick Museum of American Crafts. Front there we will head out to eat & or go to the Figure drawing at the current Corcoran 17th and NY Avenue. To finish up the day there is a sweet little museum at the corner of 18th St. and Constitution Avenue The Museum of the Americans in a building that is part of the Organization of American States.
Hope you can join us.

Re: Washington DC, USA
Getting ready to go but hoping to post some sketches soon after we get home from the big day out on the town sketching. Trying the image loading trick one more time. For those who don't know what I look like this is a portrait from a few years back, minus my eye glasses. Frederick
Re: Washington DC, USA
We had a great day which began in the Farragut Square where a Women's Brazilian Drum Corps was practicing there music.
Man on metro platform was before the square....
Then the group moved to Lafayette Square across from the White House
Then a stop in the Renwick Museum of American Crafts to cool off in the grand painting salon
The next stop was lunch and on to the open figure drawing at the Corcoran Museum of Art about 2PM
Finished up at the Art Museum of the Americas but I was too burnt out to draw there.
Sorry if anyone missed the last minute schedule of locations. We had a mix up and I didn't figure out how to post the news in time for everyone. Next crawl will be better organized up front!
Frederick thanks everyone who came to sketch and keep me company.
