San Francisco, CA
Since this is the same weekend as APE, do we want to try to work toward the Concourse, or stay the heck away? I've only been that way a couple of times (incl an interesting LFL holiday party). Seems it wasn't that long ago we were in that general area.
Re: San Francisco, CA
I don't know what APE stands for nor LFL.

Re: San Francisco, CA
I dunno about LFL but APE is the Alternative Press Expo and it's happening that weekend at the SF Concourse. Many artists and comic book fans will be there. There could be a lot of potential for good sketching around the area with a lot of warehouses and industrial areas. I'm not sure if I can make it to this one because I am hoping to grab a table at APE (fingers crossed).
Re: San Francisco, CA
What about something away from APE, away from buildings - maybe landscape-y, out in nature to catch the sun (hopefully we'll have some by then!) before winter sets in. I love drawing at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park, coffee shop close by, easy by bus. http://www.sfbotanicalgarden.org/Gardens/index.html

Re: San Francisco, CA
I think Golden Gate Park would be nice in October. Maybe make our way towards Golden Gate Bridge. I believe someone suggested Landscape-y and that would cover it. I realize the Park and Bridge are a lil' bit a ways from each other but it could be a good crawl through the Presidio down to Crissy Field. Just a suggestion and as this will potentially be my first Sketchcrawl I will take the crawlveterans lead. Ha.
Re: San Francisco, CA
Blackbird,
The last sketchcrawl took place at Crissy Field and the City is diverse enough that we shouldn't have to repeat a place for awhile.
The botanical gardens would be good and for those that want more of a urban landscape then the 7th and Irving st area is right next door.

Re: San Francisco, CA
The gardens could be cool, part of what draws me (ha) to APE is that we'll want a place to duck into if things get wet outside, and more than a few folks will be there for the weekend, so we may not force anyone to choose between the two. But, there's got to be more than a few locations that would allow us to duck in under any crappy weather if we need to.
More ideas?

Re: San Francisco, CA
Oh no, I can't miss APE this time. So I'd say, combine the two.
Re: San Francisco, CA
How about the old waterfront area (even numbered piers S of bay bridge) near 20th street (decaying buildings, craggy piers, water, birds, skylines):

Yeah, think the area maybe's been done a bit too recently. Well, time's a wastin'- any other ideas? Come on, chime in! I'm hitting SF Zoo soon, but even a zoo day could be fun, though of course $$.
Re: San Francisco, CA
I would like to check out APE as well, so SketchCrawling in that area would be great! I vote for a close proximity to APE.
Re: San Francisco, CA
How about Civic Center?
Start from Asian Art Museum, Cafe Asia (you can enter without paying admission) then move toward Concorse (APE).
There is a new exhibition "Japanese Screen" and Tea Celemony on that day at the museum if you are interested.

Civic center sounds good. Lots of buildings, lots of people. Food, hopefully sunshine.
