Re: Los Angeles, CA
Some people over at LA Sketchcrawl Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LAsketchcrawl/) are suggesting The Grove/Farmer's Market.
We've been there twice in the past, always a good spot to come back and sketch.
I also think April is an ideal time to go to the beach/ocean areas since it won't be too cold and not yet crowded as summertime....
Here is a list of places that are suggested/visited:
Some Ideas:
- Norton Simon Museum
- Huntington Library
- Griffith Park / Merry-go-round
- Los Angeles Live Steamers
- Autry National Center

Re: Los Angeles, CA
Renaissance Faire will be happening during Sketchcrawl. It may be too far (Irwindale)/too expensive ($25, discounts may be available), but thought I'd throw the idea out there:

Re: Los Angeles, CA
The Ren Fair sounds really cool, but it is too expensive for me. What about MacArthur Park? I like Pershing Square too.

Re: Los Angeles, CA
People at Facebook forum are also suggesting La Brea Tar Pits + LACMA + Farmer's Market + The Grove, which are walkable (It's about 1 mile/20 min walk. http://g.co/maps/mzwzk). Only cost would be food + parking - would definitely be a cheaper option than Ren Fair!
Re: Los Angeles, CA
If that's the consensus it sounds good to me. I look forward to it!

Re: Los Angeles, CA
Hey everyone,
Let's meet at Farmer's Market + the Grove - and we have an option to walk to LACMA and sketch some more (Walking map to LACMA: http://g.co/maps/rfyf7).
Outdoor areas at LACMA are free (Urban Lights (lamp posts), sculptures, etc,) and if you want to see exhibits inside (California Design exhibit, etc.) it has 2-for-1 admission that day ($5/person): mention code LAARTS12 at the box office.
Meet at:
Saturday, April 21, 2012
11am
Clock tower by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at the Grove
6333 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90036
Parking:
Street parking may be available but likely metered and/or has 2-hour limit - read the signs carefully!
There are two parking lots with different rates at the Grove (parking structure) and Farmer's Market (parking lot):
Parking at Farmer's Market:
up to 2 hours = free validation with purchase from a Market merchant
$3 for the third hour
$1 for each additional 20 minutes
$15 maximum
Parking at the Grove:
up to 1 hour = FREE (no validation required)
1 to 3 hours = $3
3 + hours = $3 + $1 each 15 minutes
Daily maximum = $24
Parking at LACMA: (entrance on 6th Street)
$10 flat rate
