Excellent! I was thinking that we could wander Steven Ave to draw something but then remembered it's Stampede. Might be mayhem around there. There's still the pagoda which may not be so bad. Bridgeland too... What do you think?

Curses! That's right...stampede

Good idea about avoiding the central core......pagoda sounds ok, but Bridgeland sounds good too.i don't know my way around there too well, but lots to explore!

Having partially sketched the pagoda already my vote is for Bridgeland. Lots of churches there. But... there is still time to have other brilliant ideas, let's decide next weekend? Perhaps we'll hear from other Calgary sketchers by then.

Sure, sounds great! I haven't sketched any churches yet so Bridgeland would be fun!

Sorry I didn't get around to posting this sooner – we've just made some decisions. :) Since it's the last weekend of Stampede, at about 10am I plan to head over to Salisbury Street SE to draw the Stampede Grounds/Saddledome. From that vantage point there is a pretty good view of the downtown cityscape as well. Here's a Streetview link: http://goo.gl/maps/DWpo

After that, a couple of us are meeting at the Starbucks in Bridgeland, (951 General Avenue Northeast) at 12:30 and fromt there we'll walk over to draw the exterior of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 6 Street Northeast). We usually draw until about 5pm so we may move on to another location (TBD) if we finish up quickly, but we'll be at the church for a couple of hours for sure.

Hope to see you there!
