The 19th -
World Wide SketchCrawl #41
From Castles to Collections:
- Our Sketch starts at the observation deck of Belvedere Castle. Built as a Victorian folly in 1869, the castle caps Vista Rock, the park's second-highest natural elevation. Since 1919, the castle has also been the location of the official Central Park weather station.
- From there we go to the entrance to Central Parks Delacorte Theater to sketch the statue of Romeo and Juliet
- Then we'll sketch the view at the Turtle Pond looking up at the Castle.
- Then across the Great Lawn to the Statue of King Jagiello, and from there to Cleopatra's Needle behind the Metropolitan Museum.
We'll finish up on Fifth Avenue sketching the iconic museum entrance and stairs.

Richard, what time??? and what is the street entrance to the castle? (I usually have my carriage take me there ).

S:
It's 10 in the AM. Plenty of time before the carriage turns into a pumpkin.

Cindy, short for Cinderella, aka Susan, would like to know what street her carriage needs to take to get to her castle. She doesn't want to walk in her glass slippers!!!
Re: New York City Sketch Crawl

Re: New York City Sketch Crawl
Belvedere Castle is slightly north of the 79th Street Traverse, overlooking Turtle Pond. It's about midway east-west-wise. I hope I can make it, but it's pending scheduling some contractors to work on my home, and I may have to accede to them. In which case I'll sketch Brewster.
