Date officielle / Official day

Post by Matalalie »

Official day in july for sketchcrawl 48 during holidays ?
I open this topic to ask you about how to choose the next dates of sketchcrawl. It would be so much more easy to know the dates in advance. Sometimes we need special authorizations to gather many participants in public places. What about deciding that next sketchcrawls would take place on 2nd Saturday (or 3rd ?) of January, April, July, and October of each year ?
Indeed sketchcrawls are often scheduled at this time of the year. It would be easyer this way, then nobody would ask so many questions about it anymore... We would already know the 4 dates of the yearly sketchcrawls for sure and we'd be able to organise our timetables this way !
Thanks for your answers and suggestions : what do you think ?

I agree with the suggestion of Matalalie. It would be easier to organize (and also to plan one's own schedule).

Hi,

The dates are selected by the founder Enrico Casarosa, and I believe they are in part based on when he is able to participate.

In addition from time to time there are special requests made for a specific date (some requests are considered).
For example SketchCrawl #48 is on the same day as the Singapore Urban Sketchers Symposium.

I will share your feedback with him when he returns from vacation, however please note that since this is a world wide event, and each country has different holidays on different dates, a date that does not conflict with one country may conflict with another :)

What I have seen other crawlers do when the official world wide date conflicts with their local calendar is to move theirs a day early or a day later, perhaps something like this can work for some of you.

Happy Crawling!
Gustavo

I understand but planning sketchcrawls in location needing permission, is not easy !
We never know how many sketchers will be there, and… we can't answer on the date a few monthes (weeks sometimes) before.
I know some sketchers who are booking this special saturday a few weeks before, too.

Very true, the announcements are also getting later and later which makes it difficult to plan in advance. We are planning a sketchcrawl in Aston but can only do it as long as it doesn't conflict with any Aston Villa home games! So the more notice the better.

But, a year on, it is still the same!
