Atlanta, Georgia, USA [RESULTS]

Post by debora »

Four of us met at Oakland Cemetery and enjoyed perfect sketching weather. On our way in, we passed a larger group, a creative writing group doing a "writecrawl." (Our term for it, not theirs.)

I decided to tackle the Richards family tomb:

Nice job on this. Cemeteries are good locations for sketching. Thanks for sharing.

Atlanta Group,

I've got some additional suggestions for a January (or rainy day) location for sketching.

1. The State Capitol rotunda (interior)
2. The Healey Building atrium (interior)
3. The L.P. Grant Mansion (home of the Atlanta Preservation Center, in Grant Park) http://www.atlantapreservationcenter.com/index

More to come from my historian friends!

And here is Richmond's magnolia

Teri, great idea to keep a running list of bad-weather sketchcrawl places here. I've sketched at the L. P. Grant mansion and was so taken with the massive root of a tree growing over a brick retaining wall that I didn't pay much attention to the building. Would like to get inside the state capitol someday.

My favorite sketching location for mid-January is the MLK historic site. If it is cold I believe you can go into the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church sanctuary to sketch. I haven't been in there yet; I've always sketched outside.

Beautifully sketched, Atlanta!
and though in a cemetery, that tomb is so pretty!

Hmm... I don't have any hosting for the pictures I took. Not sure how to post them without hosting. I think I'll have to keep messing around.
