NYC [RESULTS]
We had a pretty soggy day in New York, but 4 stoic crawlers met up at the Central Park zoo!
The zoo was fairly empty due to the weather, so we had plenty of space to draw.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else's sketches!

Excellent sketches. The penguin´s is specially sweet

Nice Brushwork! I'm more comfortable drawing with a pen and save brushwork for filling in areas, swiping over a shape, etc. I think it's especially difficult to draw with a brush as you do.
I love the fluid shapes and movements of your animals. And I guess I'm especially fond of the drawings you did of the Tamarinds.
I keep trying to get my son to join up with the NYCity Sketchcrawl. Maybe one day I'll succeed. Thanks for posting your drawings.

It was nice meeting you and Allen, Alisa. Too bad I had to cut my day short.
Here are some of mine.

Re: NYC [RESULTS]
Alisa - My sister and I also sketched in the city, but we were afraid that there wouldn't be any seating indoors at the zoo. Neither of us can stand for very long. We opted for the Metropolitan Museum instead, but it would have been fun to sketch with other crawlers. I love your animals and birds, especially the penguins!!
JChandra - Great sketches!!! You really nailed the movements of the penguins underwater.
Maybe one of these sketchcrawls we can meet up with your group.

Thanks John D, I'm still getting used to using a pentel brushpen in my small sketchbook. I used to use the Pitt artist brushes which were great for the size I work at, but they run out so quickly.
It was nice to meet you and your wife, Johnny, glad you both came out! Love the lemurs and great movement on your penguins!
Joan- I hope you and your sister had a nice crawl at the Met, you should post your drawings! You're right there wasn't much indoor seating at the zoo. I'm sure we'll meet up on another sketchcrawl in the future.

great work! nice to see so many sketches from different angles of the animals. great lines and shapes!
Re: NYC [RESULTS]
Alisa, great use of the brushpen! The pictures just pop out of the strokes, love it! My favourites are the Tamarins and the penguins.
JChandra, your compositions are INSANELY good and drawn so well. Wonderful gestures in the animals too. I'm really in awe of your sketches, especially since I also use a similar fine-nib/textured-paper setup, and you make it look so good.

Thank's Alisa. Jenny loves your penguins, great attitude in them!
Thek, thank you for the kind words. I usually use Signo 0.38 pen to draw, but for animal I like to use the fine-nib pen. It makes me loosen up a bit, very useful to keep up with the animal. (Except for the penguins, they stood like that for a long time)

Alisa, I love your tamarin sketches. I can just imagine them running around like they do. And your penguins look so happy.
JChandra, great sketches! I like the use of the colored paper (what kind is it?) with the ink and the touches of white. A very attractive style.
Alisa, Joan and I (see Joan's post above) did post our sketches from the Metropolitan Museum of Art here - you have to scroll down a bit to find them. We did think about the zoo, but I'm to out of shape to do all that walking, plus it was pouring when we left home.

Very cute! I love all, both of yours. Drawing animal is one of the most interesting but at the same time most difficult thing. Truly fascinating

Nicely done zoo sketches, I commend you for staying creative and dry at the same time
