Being in a contemplative mood on this 44th SketchCrawl day, I decided to do my sketching at the Evergreen pioneers' cemetery at the outskirts of town. It's in a wooded, overgrown expanse near the coastal highway. Our local Grange, an agricultural society, does its best to maintain it and it looks fine to me as it is. Some of the sloping ground is unstable as you will see in two of the sketches with their tilted tombstones.
Here's a small, level area next to a firing range: hope the shotguns every Sunday don't disturb the residents!
Here are several tombs on a sidehill. Note the tilting headstones from shifting ground. The graves are marked from 1885 to 1895.
Lest there be any question, this departed man has left a pointed finger on his stone, advising us in which direction he would be departing!
Thanks for visiting our pioneer cemetery with me. See you next quarter.

Cemeteries are always interesting places, especially the old tombstones. Nice work.

Beautiful works Your tombs drawings inspire me. Maybe we Japanese sketchers must have sketch meeting in the cemetery too sometimes.

Hi Gaelwriter,
Sorry so late checking in. Had some travel/illness/job changes to get through. All is fine now.
I am glad to see your sensitive handling of a difficult subjetc. Feels serene.
