Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
I just moved back to the Bay and I am excited to take part in the next Sketchcrawl.
Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
Hey everybody, can't wait for the next meeting. I have never been, and neither have a bunch of my peers (Cogswell College) but we all plan on making it out no matter what. I think our plan is to meet up at the Sunnyvale Caltran station before the crawl so we can ride to SF as a group. If anyone else is going to catch the train let me know what time you will be passing through Sunnyvale!
Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
sounds like it's time for a poll ...
seems like it'd be among:
Fort point (and crissyfields)
Mission
Tiburon
Sausalito
Embarcadero (and Soma)
Pacific Heights
ok, vote up crawlers !

Thanks for throwing up that poll Enrico

I'm going to have an early look at Fort Point on my own.

Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
Does anyone know if Fort Point has a free parking??
Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
Yes, there is free parking at Fort Point (unless that's changed since I was there)-- there's also free parking at Crissy.
Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
Crissyfields sounds like a lot of fun, see everyone there!
Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
I'd never been there before, so I took a quick trip to Fort Point.
I guess I could have looked on a map, but instead I asked at the bridge toll booth.
I got a couple of simple directions that were easy to follow.
And the answer is YES, there is free parking at Fort Point.
And YES, this is a great place for a sketchcrawl.

What time do you guys plan to meet up?
Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
Plenty of parking and parking is FREE.
Entry to the Fort is FREE too.
If I were going to suggest a meeting place,
I'd stay INSIDE the Fort.
There's a large protected courtyard
just inside the gate.
You could just agree to meet in that courtyard.
If you wanted to be very specific
you could say to meet at the tripod.
It's a large (18 feet high?) three legged hoist
to the right as you enter the courtyard.
It will be an obvious location even if the place is packed.

Re: San Francisco - CA - USA
There are magnificent views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the third floor.
There are two spiral staircases in octagonal towers.
There are beautiful views of San Francisco from the parking lot.
There are six or eight or more old cannons and mortars with piles of cannonballs.
Great views of the huge open courtyard from three floors.
A Powder Magazine filled with barrels that would have contained gunpowder.
Trails lead off through woody parkland to Crissy Field in one direction and and to the Bridge in the other.
I love the kinds of buildings they have in the Presidio.
There is a steady stream of tourists inside the Fort,
but not so much to make it uncomfortably crowded.
Some come by car, some by bike, lots of hikers and joggers,
and the fire engine tour stops here as well as the trolley car tour.
