...and we're off...
Re: Phoenix - AZ - USA - [Results]
It was a short day again this time for me - I have a couple of sick kiddies here at home that I had to get back to but the weather was perfect - 90 F with a light breeze. We were all surprised to discover there was a pumpkin patch event at the gardens today so it was packed with kids. I foolishly got caught up in the details of this sketch early on so I ended up only getting the one in today. Time to stop complaining about my scanner and get a better one. The color on paper does not look like this at all .
Catch you all on the next crawl!

"getting caught up inthe detäils" has produced a great sketch with wonderfully spiky cactus. Love the colours too.

Thanks alissa!!
I almost forgot... I tried out a new idea today also for a 'sketchbook'. I love the convenience of my watercolor case but thought this might be easier for days like today where I am too clumsy to balance things on both knees while sketching. This one holds everthing, including paper and provides a hard surface for drawing against. I glued the pans, etc in so i can just open ip up and start painting. It worked perfectly!
Then i took a few pics - you can see how gorgeous it is here today. This is the time of year where the weather is always amazing and you can enjoy the expansive outdoors.

That is a nice sketch! Funny, I was just looking at that case at Office Max last week, wondering if it might be a good idea, but you have thought it all out for me. Nice!

donnam: Excellent! That's is where I got mine too. I bought 2 types and this one turned out to be the winner. Let me know how yours turns out!

I guess I wasn't the only one who was limited by the weather, but I realise that it isn't so bad, so long as one gets out into the fresh air and meets new people! I like how you presented this thread and the watercolour kit is genius. Thanks for sharing!

It was another beautiful (thought hot at 91 degrees F) day at the Desert Botanical Garden. I only managed to get three little sketches done.
This was the first one, drawn from a table near the cafe -
This was the second one that I did as an ink wash, the colors are dreamy and surreal in reality but that quality didn't come out so much in the scan.
The third sketch was done near the "desert oasis" pond. It was noticeably cooler near the water and the hanging gourds were a neat surprise since they blended in so well with leaves.
It was great to see everybody! Craig - thank you for getting the thread started. Your detailed desert path is beautiful.
For anyone who is interested, we are going to be doing another sketchcrawl on Saturday, December 6 at the Desert Botanical Garden since the Chihuly glass exhibit will be installed. You have to buy tickets ahead of time on their website and we are going to be there for the 8am-12pm slot. Please PM me if you have any questions or want more information.

Waterblossoms: Thanks, hope you can make the next one!
Nikol: These are great - those gourds where going to be my next one if I made it to 2 sketches - awesome. Count me in for the Dec. interim crawl - that sounds perfect.
jaz999: Thanks!
PaintMonster: Yours also! Looks like you all had fun as always!
