Beautiful day for a sketchcrawl. We met under the Gothic Raygun Rocket ship along the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building and drew our way toward Yerba Buena Gardens. Good sized turnout. I got a little sunburned.
The Cartoon Art Musem on Mission St. was having a so-called comic art fest and bat-mania, with many comics artists in the house sketching characters. Here is a view of the scene, in a gallery currently featuring the art of Mad Magazine.
Bird on a point of St. Pat's, and buskers by the Ferry building.
See you all next time!

A beautiful day to be in the city.
Waiting for the BART train on my way in, I realized that everyone I could see was focused on a smartphone. When the man I was drawing moved on, I found another in the exact some position. It was just like drawing birds!

This was the view out towards the bay from the tables outside Pete's coffee in the Ferry Building.

Halfway through I lost control of this study of planes and angles on Mission Street buildings. Figuring it was beyond replair I gave it a metallic gold glaze to see what would happen. It didn't save the sketch, but when I scanned it the gold turned into a lovely grain.

This scene was not nearly so gloomy in reality. I didn't notice that I was using a water soluble pencil until I went to put color on and the black bled into everything, turning it gothic.

I saw this woman on the bus on the way home.

Thank you to everyone who made this enjoyable, and especially to Mr. Casarosa for putting it together. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one. (Though I think next time I won't forget the sunblock...)

Love sketchcrawl. Sunny day on the bay, lunch on a patio with my husband, what more could I ask for!

Cahusslein, it kind of looks like you captured the same sailboat that I did in the same fleeting second, past the end of the pier.

Re: San Francisco [Results]
I never had time to scan in my work and post it from the last crawl, but I'm glad to see the work that's up. A lot of amazing work here. It always inspires me to draw with the artists in this city.
