Good, I got my images to work!
Great work from everyone! And what a prolific day!
It felt really short to me for some reason. I would have loved to draw more and to socialize more. (It seems that these days I can only do one at a time...) But it was great to meet a few of you out there!
Anyway, there is so much to draw in Chinatown, but I concentrated on the card playing ladies, parked on a bench beside some of their friends.
Here are a few of them:

Here's my contributions, such as they are. I had trouble uploading them directly from blogger, so here's the link.

photos from Sketch crawl
I'm getting no kind of love from google, as I can't seem to post images of either my sketches from my blogspot, or my photos from Google albums.
So, for those who are interested, I took some photos of the event . It was fun to see sketching observed as if it were a spectator sport.

And I've been loving the recent sketches posted.
Gary, I especially like the one with the red lanterns. It really makes me see SF Chinatown as a romantic and charming place (instead of that noisy place that I've been going to since I was a kid that smelled like fish :p)

Wow! Amazing sketches from everyone! Some terrific character work here and observations. Enrico! Yes, try to get Bolhem to post if you can. His stuff was very inspiring.
Well, I've finally gotten my sketchcrawl results scanned. I didn't draw too many people on this day, but mostly seemed to focus on making little compositions. Plenty to be drawn from to that end, as well. Really, there was just sooo much to draw on this day, it was mindboggling. It seemed all 65 or so of us could spend all week there and not run out of worthy subjects.
I started by sketching the statue. A skilled model. She held the pose beautifully.
Some of the park-goers:
Of course, the gamers and gamblers were popular subjects.
Some tiny compositions (lots of converging lines to be had everywhere):
Of all the compositions I drew this day, I think the one on the left on this page is one of my favorites:
Slapped this one on as fast as I possibly could. I'm not too happy with the colors, to be honest, but I like the way it looks in grayscale!
And finally, it seemed to me that a sketchcrawl in Chinatown wouldn't be complete without Peking Duck!
Thanks all! I had a lot of fun sketching my butt off and trying to stay warm under the elusive rays of the San Fran sun. The plus side is it was dry and beautiful. We appear to be having a monsoon here in L.A. now and I'm thinking of building an ark.
