Re: NEW YORK CITY [Results]
In the morning we started out at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. I did a sketch of the fountain and one of the staircase coming down to the fountain.

7 of us went to lunch and most of us sketched someone/something at the table. I sketched Richard.

After lunch we headed over to the Lincoln Center area. A few of us sketched at a market nearby. I liked this colorful truck...which was selling Belgian waffles that smelled really good...and I resisted them.

From there we walked over to the Lincoln Center fountain where more of the group was already sketching. Most of them were sketching the buildings but I decided to sketch them with the dancing fountains behind them. A while later the security guard came over to tell them that the fountains we going to get very high and they needed to move or they would get very wet. Luckily they listened because the guard was correct. lol

By this time most of us were too cold to stay outside and headed inside where we had seating with a view of the Lincoln Center plaza. I sketched Mia sketching out the window.

Great sketches, Joan! I love the ones by the fountain, and the one of the food cart. You got so many sketches done!!!! I wish I could have been there too.

Terrific sketches joan! You always manage to do so many! It was a fun day and I thank Richard and Mark for their efforts. NY had a great turnout of amazing sketchers!
Re: NEW YORK CITY [Results]
Here are my sketches and photos from yesterday's Sketchcrawl. It was great to see familiar faces, and meet new ones. I hope to see you all again soon.
On my way to the sketchcrawl just after 7am. Mornings don't really agree with me.

Entering 72nd Street and Fifth, accompanied by promising blue sky and sunshine:

But then it got cloudy when I got to Bethesda Fountain:

Some warmup:

A view of the boathouse opposite the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain:

I'm not great at identifying NYC animals except pigeons and rats. I think these are ducks. Maybe swans? They sauntered up to say hello. (They are Canada geese! Thanks, Susan!)
Sketchcrawl #39: ducks! or swans? by mabeloos, on Flickr
Then went back.
Sketchcrawl #39: same ducks (or swans) turned right 'round by mabeloos, on Flickr
Back to Bethesda to find the group.

Angel of the Waters:

Bethesda Terrace:

There were signs of spring, and sketchers to boot:

Focused artists:

A break at a Mexican restaurant for lunch, made great by good food and even better company.
Sketchcrawl #39: lunch! by mabeloos, on Flickr
I wanted to take these small hot sauce bottles home with me.
Sketchcrawl #39: by mabeloos, on Flickr
Salsa and chips for appetizers instead of bread and butter, and my lunch receipt. Thanks, Francisco, for dividing up our orders, pain though I'm sure it was.
Sketchcrawl #39: by mabeloos, on Flickr
Then it was off to Lincoln Center after lunch. The Met Opera, with its posters for Richard Wagner's operas this season:

Sketchers sitting around the rim of the fountain:

It got cold, so some of us invaded an empty section of a café in Avery Fisher Hall:

Re: NEW YORK CITY [Results]
Looks like a great group sketching together, with a variety of styles in sketching. Very nice and fun to see!
Re: NEW YORK CITY [Results]
Mickey - Thanks. I don't think you could have handled the walking but I know you would have enjoyed the rest of the day.
Richard and Mark - Thanks! And thanks for doing such a good job of organizing the day! Aside from a bit of a nip in the air the day was perfect.
Susan - Thank you. It was a great idea to go in and join the group. Hope you post your sketches soon.
Mia - I like all the photos you took of the park and your trip to the park. Your sketch of the fountain is great...nice pen work (but then you have such a wonderful collection of them to work with). I like the atmosphere and color of the one of the terrace and the one of Lincoln Center...and the sketch of me sketching. lol

Thank you. And I see you posted yours up too. I love your lines. Now I want to get Noodler's Catfish Blue. *time to visit Art Brown*
Joan:
Fantastic sketches, especially the Bethesda Fountain and the Waffles and Dinges truck (now I crave some and I'm too far downtown today). I didn't realize you sketched me when I sketched you. (Thank you for keeping still!)
Susan:
Thank you, I'm glad I woke up. XD I hope to see your sketches up soon too. I didn't realize how much I put into the book on Saturday, it took some time to scan just some of them. What a fun day.
